Task 2: Directors Concept

The entire concept was to create a stage engulfed by woods. We needed it to be realistic and believable, there should have been no seperation or difference from the audience and stage itself. The actors wanted a stage that was mostly manueverable, but also completely lit; by day and by night. The passing of a day and the passing of the night were both achieved using various lighting techniques. The floor needed to be well lit due to the entire of the floor being covered in bark. The colour needed to illuminate the wood, whilst not interrupting the light from any of parts of the show. The small pool needed a very specifc effect to it. In the rig there was some small sprinklers installed, when they were used the light needed to be highlighted with red as though there was blood pooring from the sky. The overall aim was to create a naturalistic piece with variations on stylised designs.
